Introduction 42 inch Samsung PN42B450 is generating huge interest among the plasma TV enthusiasts; major online retailers are making good business by selling this unit and hence I am here to shoot my review on this. Read this review to get the clear idea about the unit.
The Good If you follow my reviews, then you know that I am always impressed with the way Samsung maximizes the potential of 720p resolution technology; and how they dont integrate 1080p simply to make their televisions more expensive. That being said, the Samsung PN42B450 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV is another excellent example of how viable 720p really still is. In fact, I have yet to see another 42 inch plasma TV that that has better picture quality than this one. I have stated time and again that 1080p technology is virtually useless in TVs smaller than 50 inches, and I stand by that statement.
Samsung PN42B450 really impressed me with its amazing picture quality, richness and vibrant colors. In fact the resolution and contrast are amazing; if you love watching hi-fi action flicks or gaming, then you are surely going to love this as there are no image blurring or ghosting whatsoever. Like any other plasma TVs, there is perfect display of white, black and gray shades.
There are several ports that ensure proper connectivity with the peripheral devices. You can also view snaps and videos from your PC as the TV features PC and USB port. Brace yourself for excellent sound quality; even the remote control is of top-notch quality. The remote has the ability to recognize fast and get organized with almost any peripheral.
The bad I havent found any such thing in the TV that I can term as its limitation. Though, plenty of heat is generated, but it is a common fact among the Plasma TVs. As the television is quite heavy and good care is needed, it is better to go with wall mounting. As this one is Plasma, lot of electricity will be consumed.
The ugly Only thing I regret about this TV is the fact that I dont own one.
